Communications for Sustainable Development: Shradhanjali, Auroville, India

Founded in 1980 within the Aspiration community of Auroville, Shradhanjali, translating to “offering of faith,” originated from the aspirations of two Indian women. Their vision was to create aesthetically pleasing products from what nature has to offer to generate income for Auroville and women from the surrounding villages while embodying a commitment to sustainability. Shradhanjali's journey reflects a profound connection to the Auroville spirit, emphasizing the pursuit of perfection in product quality, employee relations, and sustainable environmental practices. To create a common understanding of Shradhanjali’s values and ethos, the unit wanted to re-create their video on their website which introduces them and their work. Further, they wanted like to highlight the women who work here and their views on Shradhanjali in short Instagram reels. The aim of the project was to showcase the integral role of Shradhanjali as an Auroville unit, their adherence to environmentally friendly processes, the meticulous cultivation of flowers and plants in their garden and the conscientious handcraft of the women working at the Auroville Unit. The short Instagram reels aim to provide a glimpse into the personal experiences and fulfilment derived from working at Shradhanjali. By sharing these authentic and personal narratives, the reels intend to connect the audience with the diverse stories of Shradhanjali’s workers.
